On 12 January a powerful earthquake struck Haiti, leaving the country and its people in complete chaos and devastation. Relief aid is slowly trickling in to the country but it's not enough. There's a shortage of food, water, and medicine and it's a race against time to provide these essential items. That's why ING has first of all decided to donate 30,000 euros from the ING Group Disaster Relief Fund to the Red Cross. This will provide immediate emergency goods to the country for example blankets, water containers and kitchen sets. Employees can help through the ING Chances for Children Programme’s global partnership with UNICEF. The total amount donated by ING employees through this global initiative will be doubled by ING Group. With these funds UNICEF will provide emergency relief for children in Haiti and for the longer term, UNICEF will help the government with the reconstruction of the education system.
