ING has developed several global programmes for volunteering. These relate to our global focus areas ING Chances for Children, Financial Education and Entrepreneurship and the Environment.
The Global challenge is our annual event that captures the charitable spirit of ING employees everywhere. Around 20 November 2010 – the United Nations International Day of the Child – employees across the organisation will come together for the third ING Chances for Children Global Challenge and volunteer, raise funds or celebrate their team's outstanding achievements in community development.
The 'Women in Business Challenge', a joint initiative of ING and the Business in Development (BiD) Network Foundation, offers entrepreneurs from the developing world a once in a lifetime opportunity to be guided and mentored by a business coach from ING and to visit the Netherlands for a one-week intensive business training course - a great opportunity to expand their networks and meet potential investors.
Earth Hour 2010 was the largest voluntary action for the environment in history, with lights going out across 128 countries and in over 4,500 cities worldwide. Hundreds of millions of people participated. In 2011, Earth Hour continues and ING joins with various initiatives in more countries than ever.
We have developed a number of toolkits for employees how to set up fundraising actions for UNICEF or one of the initiatives set up at the local branches. If you want to find out more, please contact corporate.responsibility@ing.com
Several ING business units have set up foundations or programmes that engage employees in local community development. You can find details on the following websites:
Through the Foundation funds raised with ING employees, our business units and customers are donated to UNICEF and other charitable partners. The Foundation matches all employee donations to UNICEF.
