ING ranked 16th out of 500 by the Transparency Benchmark

December 29, 2011 | ING Group

The Transparency Benchmark has ranked ING 16th out of 500 of the largest Dutch companies, judged on the basis of their social, environmental and ethical performance. Published by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation, the 2011 benchmark scoring criteria covered the aspects of stakeholder dialogue, integration of environmental and social aspects in management and the level of sustainability reporting.

ING’s top 20 position is largely attributed to the transparent reporting on vision and strategy, its proactive approach towards stakeholders and general candidness on the subject. The banking and insurance sector, which includes 28 companies within the benchmark, scores above average compared to the other sectors. ING comes in at fourth place in this sector-based ranking.

The Dutch government expects companies to be more transparent about their corporate responsibility policies and activities.  The aim is to promote good reporting on sustainability activities, making it possible for a company to encourage dialogue with stakeholders and take their views on board. The Transparency Benchmark provides an insight into the success of Dutch companies in achieving these transparency goals.
