ING For Something Better

Community

Community

As a major international company, ING has a responsibility to make a positive contribution to society. Our employees are the cornerstone of the success of our community investment programmes in both developed and developing communities. They are committed to donating money or doing voluntary work for our global programmes or for one of the many programmes that have been developed by our local branches.

With 110.000 employees in more than 40 countries, ING is part of many communities. And we work hard to strengthen them from the inside out. We roll up our sleeves, get involved and make a difference.

We want to invest in a better future. Therefore:

  1. We offer children chances for a better future through quality education
  2. We empower individuals and their families through financial and business literacy
  3. We support initiatives in the area of sports, art and culture.

By providing children with quality education we give them a real chance of securing a better future. The programme has joined forces with UNICEF to support children in developing countries. In addition ING is active through dozens of projects in the local communities we operate in.

  • Financial Education & Entrepreneurship

We want to empower individuals to achieve financial independence and become self-sufficient individuals. We focus our efforts at investing in financial and business literacy and supporting entrepreneurs with their micro-and small businesses. Our initiatives are aimed at children, women, micro- and small business entrepreneurs.

Besides our global programmes, ING business units have started many other local initiatives that suit the need of their local community. You can find these initiatives in the local chapters

ING and the Red Cross
On 10 September ING Group and the Netherlands Red Cross entered into a partnership. The aim of the partnership is to offer help in the event of natural disasters and other catastrophes around the world. In the past 10 years 3,912 natural disasters (e.g. floods, drought, storms and earthquakes) took the lives of more than 1 million people. The Netherlands Red Cross works around the world together with sister organizations and other aid agencies to get help to disaster victims as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Support in acute emergency situations is chiefly provided through the international Red Cross: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for armed conflicts and the Federation for natural disasters. An assessment of the required aid is made on the spot with the Red Cross or Red Crescent. The Netherlands Red Cross then contributes money, personnel and supplies according to its means. This guarantees the provision of efficient and coordinated aid. The Netherlands Red Cross carries out its work at home and abroad with support from the government, individuals and businesses.

Besides providing financial assistance, the business sector also helps out with knowledge, resources and materials. The partnerships with companies are designed to make a valuable contribution to the work of the Netherlands Red Cross – a contribution that makes a real difference.
